Set Up and Verify Your NetID Password Recovery Information

As TU students, faculty and staff, you must set up and verify personal information you can use to recover a forgotten or expired NetID password. Follow these steps to log in, set up three security questions and verify your recovery number and email address.

Log In to the NetID Management System

  1. Open towson.edu/netid in your web browser.
  2. Select the Manage link under Manage NetID.
  3. Enter your NetID Username and Password on the Towson University Authenticated Login screen and select Login.
  4. If you are prompted to set up your Security Questions, select NEXT MESSAGE. If not, continue with the Set Your Security Questions section below.
  5. If you are prompted to set up DUO multi-factor authentication, select CLOSE. If not, continue with the Set Your Security Questions section below.

Set Your Security Questions

  1. Select the SECURITY QUESTIONS tab at the top of the page. Three default security questions are provided, but we recommend you choose the questions you prefer.
  2. To do this, select the Pencil icon beside a question and then select another question from the drop-down list.
  3. Type your answer in the box labeled Answer for Question #. Then, confirm by typing it again in the box labeled Re-type Your Answer for Question #. Answers are not case-sensitive. If you select the SHOW ANSWERS button at the bottom of the page, all answers will appear in lowercase.
  4. Repeat the process for Questions 2 and 3.
  5. If necessary, use the buttons at the bottom of the page to RESET ANSWERS, CLEAR ALL and SHOW ANSWERS.
  6. Once you have set your three security questions, select SAVE at the bottom of the screen. If an Attention box appears, select CLOSE

Verify Your Email Address and Phone Number

If you forget your password or allow it to expire, you can use your recovery email and phone to verify your identity. Use a personal email address and/or personal mobile phone number that can receive an SMS text message.

  1. Select the PROFILE tab at the top of the screen to display basic information tied to your NetID. If you're using a mobile device, select the Hamburger menu and choose Profile
  2. Go to the Password Recovery Email and Phone section. If the information is incorrect or you prefer to use different information, change or add a Recovery Email address and/or a Recovery Phone number in the designed fields.  Note that when you change the information in NetID Management, it is not updated in PeopleSoft or anywhere else.  You will need to contact the Registrar's Office to update personal email addresses.
  3. Select the SUBMIT button at the bottom of the screen when finished. A one-time passcode will be sent to your recovery email and/or recovery phone.
  4. Enter this in the One-Time Passcode box and select the Done button.
  5. If necessary, select Close to hide the Attention box.

Log Out of the NetID Management System

  1. Select the Logout button in the upper right corner of the screen when finished.
