Configure Your Android Device for tu-secure Wi-Fi

Configure your Android device to connect to the tu-secure wireless network, the recommended wireless network for TU faculty, staff and students. tu-secure provides the most secure and stable connection to the university network and access to your H: drive and other secured resources. This article supports Android version 11.0 and beyond. If you need additional assistance, please contact the OTS help desks at 410-704-5151 (options 1, 0 for students and 2, 1 for Fac/Staff).

Connecting your Android Device to tu-secure

To configure an Android device to connect to tu-secure, follow these steps:

  1. From the Home screen, swipe your notification pane down.
  2. Select the gear icon to open your settings page.
  3. Select Network & Internet.
  4. Select the Internet submenu.
  5. Under Wi-Fi, ensure Wi-Fi is enabled, that the slider is blue.
  6. Select tu-secure from the list of available wireless networks.
  7. An authentication menu will appear.
    1. EAP method: Select PEAP.
    2. Phase 2 authentication: Select MSCHAPV2.
    3. CA certificate: Select Use system certificates.
    4. Online Certificate Status: Select Do not verify.
    5. Domain: Enter towson.edu.
    6. Identity: Enter your NetID username and leave Anonymous identity blank.
    7. Password: Enter your NetID password.
    8. Select Connect.
  8. Your device will join the network and display "Connected" under tu-secure in the list of Wi-Fi networks.

Troubleshooting Tips

  • Toggle airplane mode on and off; it's analogous to rebooting your Wi-Fi radio.
  • Forget the Wi-Fi network and then reconnect to it. If the connection settings are the problem, this should fix it.
