The Microsoft 365 Apps for Enterprise package is installed by default on all campus computers. This includes Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Microsoft Outlook is installed on Faculty/Staff office computers only. If Microsoft 365 applications are not launching on an instructor computer, please report the issue directly to a local IT provider or through TechHelp.
Word Documents
- New documents
- Select the Windows Button > Windows Accessories > WordPad. Documents created here can be saved as .docx or .rtf for later use with Microsoft Word
- Existing documents
- Right-click on the document, select Open with, select More apps and select WordPad.
- Office 365 web applications at https://office.towson.edu can be used to create and edit new documents in a web browser.
- Existing documents that have been uploaded to your OneDrive (https://onedrive.towson.edu) or a SharePoint site can also be edited through the web browser.
Email
- By default, the Outlook application is not installed in campus classrooms. Visit https://outlook.towson.edu to access Outlook. If the Outlook application is required for delivery of course content, please directly contact your departmental/college local IT provider or place a request through TechHelp.
Troubleshooting
- If you are attempting to open an existing document, open the application (Word, Excel, or PowerPoint) and create a new document. If you can create a document without issue, this may indicate a corrupted document rather than an issue with the office suite.
