Network Drives (O, H, etc.) Unavailable on a Classroom Computer

Tags staff faculty

Personal network file storage (H: drive) and department file storage (O: drive) should automatically appear ("map") upon signing into campus computers. If one or both do not appear, you can remap them manually.

Solution

  1. Sign out of the computer, then sign back in. This may re-establish the mapped network drives.
  2. Map the network drives manually by following the article Manage Your H, O and Other Network Drives on Windows and Mac Computers.

Workaround

  1. Open a web browser and launch the Virtual Workspace: http://vw.towson.edu
  2. Sign in to the Virtual Workspace and select Towson Desktop.
  3. From the (virtual) Windows desktop, open My Computer/This PC. O: and H: drives may be available through the Virtual Workspace but not on the local computer.
  4. Even if this workaround succeeds, report the problem.

Prevention

  • Before class, upload the necessary files to Microsoft OneDrive to guarantee access from anywhere.
