Pair Remote to Xfinity Cable Box and TV

Tags staff faculty

If you have an Xfinity Xi6 Cable TV Box, and either need to use a new XR15 remote control or need to use it with a different TV, follow these steps to configure the remote to control the cable box, and the TV power, input and volume.  Xfinity Xi6 Cable TV Boxes are used in offices, lobbies, conference rooms and residence hall common rooms.

Pairing the Remote with Cable Box and TV

  1. Make sure the cable box is connected to Ethernet, power and the TV
  2. Make sure the cable box has completed booting and is displaying a picture on the TV
  3. With the remote pointed at the cable box, hold the xfinity and i buttons down at the same time until the light flashes green.
  4. Type the code displayed on the screen.  If you have multiple cable boxes in the same room, ignore the pairing screen on the other TVs.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to make the remote control your TV.
  6. Test the volume, mute, TV input and power buttons to make sure they control your TV.
  7. After pairing, your remote does not need to be pointed at the cable box.
