Finding the IP Address and MAC address on Xi6 Cable Boxes

In order to find the IP, you need to access a secret menu.  Here's how to get to it:

  • Finding the IP Address
    • Hold Exit for 5 seconds (you may see extraneous displays on the screen that can be ignored)
    • Hit Down ArrowDown Arrow2
    • From there, arrow down to the Device Address screen that contains the IP address
  • The MAC address that is printed on the bottom of the Xi6, is the address that the Xfinity Venue Management System sees, but is not the address on the network.   Here are three ways of finding the correct MAC address
    • Look up the IP address in the TU Port Locator tool (Towson University network only) or on your router.
    • The WiFi address is on on the WiFi Details screen from the above secret menu.  The Ethernet MAC address is not displayed.
    • Subtract one (in HEX) from the MAC address printed on the bottom of the Xi6 for the Ethernet MAC address or add one for the WiFi MAC address. Examples:
      • If the address ends in 11, 10 would be the ending of the Ethernet MAC address and 12 would be the ending of the WiFi MAC address
      • If the address ends in 19, 18 would be the ending of the Ethernet MAC address and 1A would be the ending of the WiFi MAC address
      • If the address ends in 1F, 1E would be the ending of the Ethernet MAC address and 20 would be the ending of the WiFi MAC address
