Remove noise from a bad recording using Adobe Audition.

Remove noise from an audio recording

  1. Open your audio file in Adobe Audition.
  2. Select All
  3. Effects
    1. Amplitude & Compression
      1. Amplify
        1. Drag to 15 dB
  4. Deselect waveform. It will display as green on black.
  5. Select a couple of seconds of noise — just background noise, no talking.
  6. Effects
    1. Noise Reduction
      1. Capture Noise Print
  7. Click on waveform to clear the selection
  8. Select All
  9. Effects
    1. Noise Reduction…
      1. Noise Reduction
        1. Set Noise Reduction to 50%
        2. Set Reduce by to 10 dB
  10. While waveform is still selected…
  11. Effects
    1. Noise Reduction…
      1. Hiss Reduction
        1. Noise Floor to 8 dB
        2. Reduce by 24 dB
