Typically, the Panopto Recorder is pre-installed on TU-issued computers. If Panopto is not pre-installed, you can install it yourself through the Software Center, Self Service (JAMF) or by calling the Faculty/Staff Help Center.
To record a lecture using your home (or non-TU) PC or Mac, you must first download Panopto Recorder:
- Faculty can download the recorder through their provisioned Blackboard course or from the Panopto webpage.
- Staff can download the recorder through the Panopto webpage as described below.
Download Panopto Recorder from Blackboard
- Navigate to https://blackboard.towson.edu and sign in.
- Select a course from the My Courses pane.
- Select Books & Tools from your course menu.
- Select Panopto Content.
- From the Create button, select the drop-down arrow and select Record a new session.
- In the Record a new session window, select the Download Panopto button.
- The application will download to the Downloads folder. Depending on your operating system and web browser, the application may either download or immediately prompt you to install.
Download and install from the Panopto website
You can download the recorder from the Panopto website if you do not have a Blackboard course.
- Open the Panopto website at https://towsonu.hosted.panopto.com.
- Sign in with your NetID and Password.
- Under your name in the top right corner, select Download Panopto.
- Select Download Installer for the computer type you have.
Install the Software Installation Package
After downloading the application, follow these steps to install and properly configure the software.
- All fields should be automatically filled in the Panopto Recorder Setup window. If you are missing the Panopto Web Server address, enter towsonu.hosted.panopto.com.
- Select Next and then select Install.
- When the installation is complete, the Panopto Login window will display.
