Enable Code Printing on Your Windows or Mac Computer

Some printers require a User Number (code) to print. Learn how to enable your printer for code printing and how to input your user number.

Enable your Windows computer for code printing

  1. Use the Search box next to the Start button to search for Printers.
  2. Select Printers and Scanners from the search results.
  3. Select the printer you wish to manage.
  4. Select Printing preferences.
  5. Select the Job Handling tab in the Printing Preferences window.
  6. Under the Authentication drop-down, select User Number.
  7. Enter your User Number.
  8. Select the OK button.

Enable your Mac computer for code printing

  1. Open a document to print.
  2. Scroll down to Printer Options and click on the arrow to expand its options.
  3. Select Job Handling from the list.
  4. Select the Authentication tab.
  5. Select the radio button labeled User Number and enter your User Number.
  6. To save the user number, scroll up to the top to the Presets section.
  7. Select Default Settings.
  8. Select Save Current Settings as Preset and give it a Preset Name.
  9. Once you are done, select Print.
