You can manage your NetID account password such as resetting it, updating recovery information, or changing your security questions and answers using the NetID Management Tool. To get started, expand the panel below for detailed instructions on the task you need help with.
Reset your NetID password using one-time verification code
To reset your password using a one-time verification code, follow these steps:
- Open Reset a forgotten or expired password with a one-time passcode in your browser.
- Enter your user information into the required fields to verify your identity and request a One-Time Passcode.
- Select the SUBMIT button.
- Select your Preferred Contact Method to receive your one-time passcode; you may choose Cellphone, Email or Both.
- Select the SEND ONE-TIME PASSCODE button. The passcode will expire in 30 minutes.
- Enter the one-time passcode you received in the Verification Code section.
- Select the VALIDATE button. A Create New Password page will appear.
- Enter a new password in the New Password field. Your password must follow rules listed on the page.
- Re-enter the password in the Re-type Password field.
- Select the RESET PASSWORD button. The page will confirm the successful reset of your NetID password.
- Select the Logout button in the upper right corner of the screen to close the page.
Reset your NetID password using security questions
To reset your password using your security questions, follow these steps:
- Open reset a password with existing security questions in your browser.
- Enter your user information into the required fields to verify your identity. Select the SUBMIT button.
- You will be prompted with list of your security questions.
- Type your Answers to the security questions you selected when activating your account.
- Select the SUBMIT button.
- You will be prompted for Duo validation. Please validate your credentials via the Duo such as via Duo Push.
- Enter the new password in the New Password field. Your new password must follow the rules listed on the page.
- Re-enter the password in the Re-type Password field.
- Select the RESET PASSWORD button. The page will confirm that you have successfully reset your NetID password.
- Select the Logout button in the upper right corner of the screen to close the page.
Reset your current NetID password using your current password
To reset your password using your current password, follow these steps:
- Log directly into the NetID Management console
- You can also go to the website towson.edu/netid, then under Manage NetID Password click on 'Change a password before it expires.
- If prompted, enter your NetID (username) and password, then select Login.
- Select the PASSWORD tab at the top of the page. The Create New Password page will display.

- Enter a new password in the New Password field. Your password must follow the rules on the right side of the page.
- Re-enter the password in the Re-type Password field.
- Select the RESET PASSWORD button. An ATTENTION screen will display while your password resets. Do not close the page until a confirmation message displays
- Select the OK button in the ATTENTION window.
- Select the Logout button in the upper right corner of the page.
Update your recovery email or/and phone number
To update your recovery information, follow these steps:
- Open Manage an existing NetID profile in your browser.
- Login with your TU credentials.
- Select 'My Profile', then 'Profile'

- Scroll down to 'Password Recovery Email and Phone' section.
- Delete your old recovery email or/and phone number and enter a new one.
- Once you entered it, click on 'Submit'.
- A verification code will get sent either to your new email or phone number for confirmation.
- Once you complete the verification, your new recovery information will be updated.
