Copy a Panopto Video from One Course to Another

Tags Panopto

It is recommended to do a full Blackboard course copy when copying embedded Panopto content. If you need to copy individual items without doing a full course copy, you will need to take additional steps to ensure the videos get copied and embedded, which can be found under the header "Copying individual videos" below.
Please Note: When copying from Blackboard Original to Blackboard Ultra, you will need to copy and re-link each of the videos individually.

While not required, if you need to record new videos into the new course's Panopto folder, you will first need to create the folder. If needed, make sure to Create Your Panopto Course Folder.

Copying Individual Videos

  1. Create a Panopto Folder for the new course
  2. Navigate to https://towsonu.hosted.panopto.com
  3. Log in with your TU NetID and Password
  4. Locate the video you want to copy
  5. Hover your mouse over the video, then click the Settings icon on the video preview
  6. Select Manage on the left
  7. Scroll down to the header Copy Video
  8. Edit the name in the New Video Name box if desired
  9. Click the drop down arrow to choose the new folder location.
  10. Select your copy option:
    1. Create Reference Copy - A reference copy is not an individual version of the video. It will create a link that will reference back to this video. If any changes or edits need to be made to the video, you will be asked to edit the original video or create a full copy to process the edits.
    2. Create Full Copy - A full copy will create a brand new version of the video that will be a standalone video. It will not be linked to this version of the video, and any changes made to this new full copy will not be applied to the original video.
  11. Repeat steps 4-10 with any additional videos that need to be copied.
  12. Once you've created the necessary copies, embed the videos into your Blackboard course's content stream.
