Make Your Blackboard Course Available for Students

Make a Blackboard (Bb) course private or open for student participation on the Bb Courses page. Courses are set to private by default and are not open to non-instructors.

Navigate to Courses

  1. Open https://blackboard.towson.edu in a browser.
  2. Log in with your NetID Username and Password.
  3. Select Courses on the side navigation menu. All your current, non-hidden courses appear on your Courses page.

Make a course available

  1. On your Courses page, locate the course you wish to make available.
  2. At the right end of the course card, select the triple dot icon. A drop-down menu will display.
  3. Select Complete or Make course privateThe lock symbol by the course name indicates the course is private.
  4. A pop-up menu will appear, prompting you to select either Make Course Private or Complete Course.
    • Make Course Private removes access from all non-instructors enrolled in the course.
    • Complete Course allows non-instructors to access the course content but prevents them from participating in graded items.
