Troubleshoot Classroom Projector Equipment

Most TU classrooms have control systems or handheld remote-control systems. If these are not working as intended, try troubleshooting using these steps.

Projector remote is missing

  1. Look inside
    • the cabinet
    • in the chalk or whiteboard tray
    • on the computer keyboard tray
    • around or under furniture near the instructor station
    • etc.
  2. Report the missing remote control as soon as possible by calling 4-TECH support at 410-704-8324 or contacting the academic department.
  3. Control panels include DVD player controls, accessible through the Controls button next to the DVD source button.

Projector doesn't turn on

  1. Use the projector’s status lights to verify the power state.
    • Single green light: projector is on.
    • Single red light: projector is off.
    • Any other lights indicate an issue with the projector that should be reported as soon as possible.
  2. If the classroom has a control system, turn it off (Finish> Yes) and back on (Start> Project).
  3. Report the problem or missing remote control as soon as possible by calling 4-TECH support at 410-704- 8324, using the CCLT chat service or contacting the academic department.

Projector lamp is burned out

  1. Try steps above for Projector doesn't turn on (SPCTG-012). Projectors with lamps may be very dim or display a colored hue before the lamp completely fails.
  2. Call 4-TECH at 410-704-8324 or use the CCLT chat service to report the issue. Leave a note on the lectern to inform other instructors of the problem and confirm that it has been reported.
