My Monitor Doesn't Work: Is it Power-Saving, Sleeping or Faulty?

Computers can enter sleep or power-saving mode if left inactive for a while. If you cannot turn on the monitor, follow these instructions to troubleshoot the issue. These are listed from the easiest or simplest solutions to the more complicated ones. If these solutions don't work, call 4-TECH at 410-704-8324 or use the CCLT chat service.

Please note that computer setups vary between buildings. It’s important to identify the type of computer in the room before troubleshooting.

Some rooms are equipped with All-in-One (AIO) computers, where the monitor and computer are integrated into a single unit. These systems do not have a separate tower in the podium. To power them on, use the button located at the bottom-right corner of the display.
