Jamf Self Service distributes software to TU Macs, providing standard university application packages for faculty and staff to install on demand. The Jamf Self Service app is available on all faculty/staff Macs. Classroom and lab Macs generally don't advertise apps in Self Service. Contact the college or department staff with questions about these Macs.
Self Service is only available on university Macs. It's unavailable for iPad, iPod Touch, iPhones, or personal Macs.
Check Self Service requirements
- The Jamf client app must be installed and running.
- You must connect to the TU wired network or a wireless network (on or off-campus). The software packages included info on which network connection is required for installation.
Verify that Self Service is installed on your Mac
Install software packages
-
Plug the Mac into an electrical outlet. If using a laptop, leave the lid open. Closing the lid disconnects the network, causing installations to fail.
-
Quit any running applications, and don't do any work on the Mac until the installations are completed.
-
Open Applications and select Self Service. If Self Service is missing, or if applications are not loading inside Self Service, contact the OTS Tech Support Desk (410-704-5151).
-
In the Self Service side panel, select a Catalog, then select All to display available packages.
-
Find the desired application and select Install. Don't install apps unless you know their purpose and need them. Select the software to read the description..
-
To proceed, select Install. The installation is complete when the button changes to Reinstall. You can then resume work on the Mac.
-
Quit the Self Service app when done.
