Reconnect or Set Up Your Cisco IP Desk Phone (79xx and 8851 Models)

Summary

Should you need to reconnect your Cisco IP phone — perhaps you have moved to a new office — follow these guidelines. Your Cisco IP Phone works in conjunction with your computer and can be plugged into both a network port and your TU-owned computer. If there is no computer, plug the phone into a network data port directly. The diagram below identifies the connections on your Cisco IP Phone; all connections are on the back of the phone, at the bottom.

Reconnecting Your Cisco 79xx  IP Phone

1 DC Adapter Port Not used at Towson.
2 AC-to-DC power supply  Not used at Towson.
3 AC power wall plug Not used at Towson.
4 Network port  (Second connector from the left) – Connect the network cable from the wall port here.
5 Access Port (Third connector from the left) – Connect the network cable from the computer here.
6 Handset Connection (Lower of the two connectors on the right) – Connect the cord leading to the handset.
7 Analog Headset Connection (Upper of the two connectors on the right) – Used to connect optional headset jack.
8 Auxiliary Port (First connector from the left) – Used for additional hardware accessories.

 

Reconnecting Your Cisco 8851 IP Phone

1 DC Adapter Port Not used at Towson.
2 AC-to-DC power supply  Not used at Towson.
3 AC power wall plug Not used at Towson.
