Body
The Towson University VPN (Virtual Private Network) allows you to connect to the campus network through any computer for off-campus access to on-campus services for students, faculty and staff who need to:
- Connect directly to a personal (H:), departmental (O:), or other file share, when not using Virtual Workspace
- Access specific academic or departmental servers (such as connecting to academic or research servers using SSH), when not using Virtual Workspace
- Use campus office printers
- Synchronize their NetID password on a university-managed faculty/staff laptop that's off-site for an extended period of time
- Update a Tigerweb website
- Access TU resources from an untrusted network
OTS recommends using Virtual Workspace whenever possible for the best experience.
Note: Students can access files on their H drive via the Student Desktop in Virtual Workspace without using the VPN.
The download page for the VPN client (Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client) is located at https://vpnc.towson.edu. See the related articles section for instructions on installing and using the VPN client on Windows and Mac devices. Faculty, Staff & Students do not automatically have access to the VPN. They can call OTS at 410-704-5151 for access. Students can only receive access for the current semester.
