Some classrooms have SMART Board displays. If the SMART board doesn't display your writing on the computer screen or the screen flickers and seems out of focus, try these steps to troubleshoot the issue.
SMART Board does not display computer
- Select the Computer input source with the audiovisual control system.
- The computer may be off or in standby mode. See our page on Computer Monitor troubleshooting.
SMART Board does not display ink
- Press the SMART Board icon in the Windows system tray and select Control Panel.
- Choose SMART Board Settings to select Projected (Mouse Mode).
- Use the Check for Updates option to run the latest version of the SMART Board software.
- Remove the pen from the pen tray to see whether the LED light over the tray illuminates. If it does not, the sensor window in the tray may be dirty. Clean this with a damp cotton swab.
- If these steps fail to resolve the issue, report it by calling 4-TECH at 410-704-8324 or using the CCLT chat service. Leave a note on the lectern to inform other instructors of the problem.
SMART Board image is blurry or flickering
- Re-examine the board from a distance. Displays may appear blurry from a very close perspective.
- If the image is blurry from a distance, adjust the settings for position, zoom and focus.
