Requesting Files Using FDS

Summary

[Students, Faculty and Staff] Use TU's File Delivery Service (FDS/Liquid Files) to securely request files too large or confidential to send as attachments through conventional delivery services such as email.

Body

When you're expecting someone to send something to you, you can use FDS to send a File Request to someone.

The recipient of the File Request will get an email with a one-time link that they can click on and send the files. With a File Request, there's no To or From to fill in, we know that already so it's a very simple way for the recipient to just add the files requested, type a message and click send to respond to the File Request.

To request a file, follow these steps:

  1. Browse to https://fds.towson.edu
  2. Click SSO Login and sign in with your Towson University credentials.
  3. Click File Requests
  4. Click New File Request
  5. On the next page, enter the email address of the person you are requesting the file from along with an email Subject and Message.
  6. Click Request File
  7. This will send the request to the recipient.

The recipient will receive an email similar to the image below:

The recipient will click the Send Requested Files button to open a link where they can upload files as shown below:

The From and To fields are already populated and the recipient can add files or drag and drop them into the window.

Once the files are uploaded, they will click Send. They will receive a confirmation that the files were sent.

The requester will receive an email with a link to download the sent files.
