Set up Office apps and email on Android

1. From the Home screen, select the apps button at the bottom of the screen.
2. Find and select the Email application
3. From the Setup account screen, Press the ADD NEW ACCOUNT button.
4. Enter your TU Email address in the Email address box and enter your password in the Password box.
5. Select MANUAL SETUP in the bottom left-hand corner.
6. The Select account type box will appear. Select Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync.
7. The EXCHANGE SERVER SETTINGS window will appear. Replace the text in the Domain\username box with your Towson email address.
8. Under SERVER SETTINGS, replace the text in the Exchange server box with outlook.office365.com. 
9. Ensure the Use secure connection (SSL) option is selected. Select SIGN IN. 
10. A Remote security administration box may appear. Select OK.
11. A DEVICE ADMINISTRATOR box may appear. Select ACTIVATE. You should now be connected to your TU email.

Note: If emails are not showing in your inbox it may be because you do not have security set up on your phone. Your phone must be protected with a 4-digit passcode in order to add a TU email account. Go to your security settings to set up a passcode if needed.

1. Launch the iOS or iPadOS App Store and search for Microsoft Outlook.
2. Select the Get button to download and install the app. Depending on your phone configuration, you may be required to authenticate using TouchID, FaceID or Password. 
   If you have already installed the Outlook app on another iOS device, the App Store will show the Download from Cloud button instead of the Get button.
3. Open the Outlook app on your device. The Add Account panel will appear.
4. Enter your TU email address and select the Add Account button. The TU Office 365 Login screen will display.
5. Enter your NetID password in the Password field and select the Login button.
6. Faculty and staff, authenticate via DUO if prompted.
7. Select the Maybe Later button when prompted Would you like to add another account?
8. The app presents a brief tour of features; select the arrow in the bottom right corner to advance. Your email will then display.

1. From the Home screen, select the Settings application.
2. Scroll down and select Mail.
3. Select Accounts.
4. Select Add Account.
5. Select Microsoft Exchange.
6. For Email, enter your TU email address.
7. For Description, enter a name for your mailbox.
8. Select Next in the upper right corner.
9. Select Sign In.
10. Select Continue.
11. Choose what you would like to sync with Exchange: 
    • Mail
    • Contacts
    • Calendars
    • Reminders
    • Notes 
12. You may want to turn off Contacts, Reminders and Notes. You can have multiple email accounts on the iPhone or iPad, but you can only have one set of Contacts and one Calendar.
13. Select Save to finalize your changes, and your mail will automatically download.

The Microsoft Outlook app features sections for Mail, Calendar, Contacts and Settings. This brief overview will highlight some key features of each screen.

Mail

1. Select the Mail icon (bottom left) to view the Mail screen.
2. Create a new message by selecting the New Message button (circle bearing a + symbol) in the bottom right corner. A new message form will display.
3. Address and compose your message, then select the Send icon (paper airplane) to send your message.
4. Outlook separates your Inbox messages into Focused and Other sections by default. Toggle these sections to see more important and less important messages as illustrated below. You can turn off this feature in Settings.

Calendar

1. Select the Calendar icon (bottom right) to view the Calendar screen.
2. Create a new event or appointment by selecting the New Event button (circle bearing a + symbol) in the bottom right corner. A new event form will display. Complete the fields and select the checkmark in the upper right corner to add your event, to select the X icon in the upper left corner to discard your entry.
3. Tap the view icon in the top right corner to toggle among
   • 3-Day view (rotate your screen for a wider presentation)
   • Day view
   • Agenda view

Contacts

1. Tap the Search icon (magnifying glass) in the top right corner. A preview of your most recent contacts will display at the top.
2. Select a recent contact to show all emails from that person, or begin entering a name in the search box to display a list of matching contacts.

Settings

1. Tap the Profile icon (initial/picture) in the upper left corner to display the Folders panel.
2. Tap the Settings icon (gear) in the lower left corner to open Settings and create a signature for outgoing mail, add additional accounts, toggle the Focused Inbox on or off and more.
3. Configure your settings and select X in the upper left corner to return to the previous screen (Mail or Calendar).

Microsoft Outlook is the email application included in the Microsoft 365 suite for Macs. Outlook enables you to consolidate all your email into your Mac inbox, unifying your work and home messages, contacts, calendars and tasks.

Set up Outlook on your Mac

1. Launch the Microsoft Outlook application.
2. From the top menu bar select Outlook and then Preferences. The Outlook Preferences window will display.
3. Select Accounts from the Personal Settings group. The Accounts window will display.
4. Select the Exchange Account icon from the Add An Account section to add a TU email account. The Enter your Exchange account information screen will display.
5. Type your email address in the Email address box.
6. Keep the Method section under Authentication set to User Name and Password.
7. Enter towsonu\NetID in the Username box and substitute your own NetID for the word NetID.
8. Enter your password in the Password box.
9. Make sure the Configure Automatically box is checked.
10. Select the Add Account button.
11. Select the Always use my response for this server box, then select Allow. The Accounts window will reopen.
12. Select the Close button to be returned to the main Outlook screen.
13. Mail, Calendar items and Tasks will begin to download and sync with your computer. This process may take a significant amount of time, depending on the size of your mailbox and the items contained within.

TU faculty, staff and students may install the Microsoft 365 (M365) desktop apps on up to five personal devices. To install M365 apps on a university-owned Mac computer, use the Self Help (JAMF) app. This article describes how to download and install M365 apps on a personal Mac computer.

How To Install Office Apps on a Mac

Download apps from m365.towson.edu

1. Open m365.towson.edu in your preferred web browser. 
2. Sign in using your NetID username and password. Faculty and staff are required to authenticate with Duo as well. Your Microsoft 365 portal will display. 
3. Select Install Apps from the upper right corner of the page. Then, select Microsoft 365 Apps.
4. Run the installer. Select Run when prompted to run the file on your machine.
5. Follow the onscreen instructions to install Microsoft 365 onto your Mac.

Manage your devices

After you have installed the M365 apps on one or more computers, you may need to manage your installations. For example, you may need to deactivate a computer that is no longer in your possession or in use​​​​​​.

1. From the upper right corner, select your account avatar (photo or initials) and then select View account from the list of options.
2. The My Account page will appear; select Manage Devices.
3. The Devices page will appear. Select the drop-down arrow next to a computer’s name to see its ID number and disable the device.
4. To deactivate a machine, select Disable Device. You will receive a prompt asking: "Disable (device name)?”
5. Select Disable Device.
6. Finally, you will receive a message informing you that the removal was successful.

Sign out and sign in

After signing out of Microsoft 365, you will be redirected to the Microsoft 365 sign-in page. Be aware that this login page differs from the TU Microsoft 365 login page; you must use your full TU email address to sign back in.

1. Select your avatar in the top right corner of the screen. If you have not set an avatar image, it will be a silhouette or initials.
2. Next, select the Sign-out button. You will be redirected to the Microsoft 365 sign-in page.
3. You can sign in using your full TU email address to return to the TU Microsoft 365 page.
