Requesting a Blackboard Organization

Summary

[Faculty, Staff & Students] How to request and use a Blackboard Community Site

Body

What is an Organization?

A Blackboard Organization, or Community Site, is a site on Blackboard similar to Blackboard Courses. However, Organizations are not tied to a specific semester and can be used without a specific time frame. Organization sites are not archived in the same manner as Course sites. All Blackboard users can request a community site following the steps below.

Organization Examples

Examples of uses for an organization include:

  • Student Clubs or Groups
  • Departmental sites for storing or sharing files
  • Continuous content storage for additional helpful content for specific courses (i.e. All students in ENGL101 get enrolled in the site each semester)
  • Continuous advising sites for Student Advisors
  • Training sites

If your idea or usage for an organization is not listed here, contact the Blackboard Support team and we can assist with determining the best way to put your idea into action.
