The Zoom H1 and H2 digital audio recorders also make excellent USB microphones for recording directly to your computer. These recorders can be borrowed from OTS Student Multimedia Services (for free).
Set the Zoom H1 as a USB microphone
- Hold the H1 such that you can see the display, you will need to make a menu choice soon after connecting it to the computer.
- Connect the H1 to your computer using the included USB cable.
- The H1 display will alternate between USB Card and USB Audio; press the Record button when USB Audio is displayed.
- Press Record again to choose the default (high) quality.
- Open the audio input controls on your computer and select H1 as your input. Individual audio applications may also have audio in settings for which you must set H1 as your input device.
Set the Zoom H2 as a USB microphone
- Connect the H2 to the computer using the included USB cable; it should power up automatically and display the necessary menu.
- Select the >>| button to highlight Audio I/F and select the Record button.
- Select the >>| button to highlight Connect and select the Record button.
- Open the audio input controls on your computer and select H2 as your input. Individual audio applications may also have audio in settings for which you must set H2 as your input device.
